Why sponsor a woman in Malawi?
Only 15% of women in Malawi have any secondary level education, as many drop out of school to focus on family life or simply can't afford the fees. In a country where 1 in 10 girls are married by the age of 15, we believe it's important that women are given the opportunity to follow their dreams and aspirations, and make better lives for themselves and their families.

how your sponsorship helps
English is the 'language of commerce' in Malawi and brings benefits to business owners as they can converse with more of their potential customers. We teach our students English as the first step of our two-year programme that aims to relieve poverty and improve prospects for women living in the poorest regions of Malawi through education, employment, and enterprise. Read more about our projects here. Your £60 sponsorship (or £5.99 a month for 12 months) pays for:
uniform
On enrolment, each woman is given a United Amayi uniform to wear when she attends the school.
English course
The women attend the school twice a week to learn conversational English and valuable communication skills
Stationery
Every woman taking part in the course receives all the books, pens and pencils that they need.
Plus, your sponsorship funds contribute towards the cost of teachers' salaries, premises rent, and admin relating to the sponsorship programme!
